Thesis Abstract
Digital Reliances & Technological Minimalism explores the multifaceted impact of social media on human cognition, behavior, and the evolution of societal norms in the digital era. The thesis is divided into two main parts: the first examines the impact of digital media overuse, and the second proposes alternative interventions. With the growth of technology, human society started to develop a reliance on digital devices, especially for the digital natives who grow up with their surroundings using technology.
Human behavioral patterns gradually adapt to the reception of information and stimulation of external changes. The research indicates that the digital shift has accelerated the pace at which people access and process information, leading to quicker responses and a broader engagement with current trends and news.
Even though people can benefit from the enhancement of virtual bonding with each other, some negative effects can be brought up simultaneously. The misconceptions and the formation of value perspectives become challenges for teenagers who use social media frequently. Moreover, as the time of using social media increases, people’s time mapping and future-oriented planning can be majorly impacted.
I explored different alternatives to balance Gen-z’s life and their daily screen times. Incorporating physical attachment on the skin and physical interactions, the little device has potentials to boots healthier life styles for the human beings.
